Bi-Directional Valve Design for Medical Devices

Company: B Braun Medical Inc

Major(s):
Primary: BME
Secondary: ME

Non-Disclosure Agreement: YES

Intellectual Property: YES

Project Overview: Precise control of fluid flow is critical in medical devices. Many systems rely on valves to ensure accurate delivery of fluids. For this project, B. Braun seeks innovative concepts and prototypes for a bi-directional valve that exhibits distinct performance characteristics—such as flow rate and activation pressure—in both the “forward” and “reverse” directions. Project Deliverables: 1. Perform a complete IP assessment of bi-directional valves. 2. Generate innovative valve concepts addressing dual-flow performance requirements. 3. Apply a data-driven approach to select the most promising concept(s). 4. Build prototypes of selected concepts. 5. Conduct testing to validate prototype performance.
