Automated Induction Coil Winding Device

Company: Westinghouse Electric Company

Major(s):
Primary: ME
Secondary: EE
Optional: CMPEN, CMPSC, ESC, IE

Non-Disclosure Agreement: NO

Intellectual Property: YES

As part of the research and development efforts of the eVinciĀ® Microreactor various inductance-based sensors are being constructed and tested. During the development of these sensors, a rapid prototyping methodology is employed. To accommodate this testing methodology, the sensors are assembled manually. This process can be improved by creating an automated inductance coil winding machine. The goal of this design team will be to create an automated inductance coil winding machine. The machine shall be able to accommodate a wide range of geometries and measure the number of turns and pitch of the coil windings it produces.
